Michael walked into his house and raised an eyebrow. It was too quiet. It was too damn quiet. Sure, his two children were off to college and he was only left with his wife in the house, but even then, the house was too quiet. It was as if she were not in the house. He had seen her car parked upfront, however, and he could see her coat hanged by the door. Her handbag was where she usually kept it. But the house was too quiet. He called out for her, but she did not answer.

“Honey?” he called but the house carried on his voice as if he did not even belong in it.

Suddenly, Michael realized how fast life had moved. It was moving too damn fast. He could still recall the color of dress his wife wore when first saw her for the very first time. And now here they were, twenty five years later trying to figure out whether his wife was in the same house he was in. he walked slowly toward the stairs that would lead to their bedroom.

For a brief moment. Michael thought he would find a murder scene in the house and made a mental note to stay alert. But then he heard is wife humming from the bedroom and made his way to the bedroom at a quicker pace.
