Mary looked at Jared and wondered why the man was even breathing. He was smiling, an adorable smile that made her hate him even more. There was nothing that pissed her off more than seeing the man she thought was responsible for her unhappiness happy. There had to be something pretty funny happening for him to laugh like that. From where she was standing, she could tell that he was talking to someone, but due to her height, she could not see who he was talking to. Not that she was too short, but Jared was tall.

She started to turn away so he could not see her, but it so happened that he was turning to face her. He had not even seen her first but when she moved, she caught his attention.

“Oh crap,” Mary exclaimed as she watched the man walk toward her. This was not what she had expected.

She had walked into the event without knowing that Jared was going to be bin the same event. But then again what was she thinking? The man was an event’s manager, and he was one of the best events managers in the city. Why else wouldn’t he be here? Chances were that he had been contracted to make this happen.
